Romantic Heart

You'll look back
and smile
at this romantic heart
of yours - 
that's a lesson
to learn in life.

Their eyes lost focus,
and both reflected a smile
and knew there was
no need to say anything.

Extend compassion
and take care of yourself.
Find a way to smile.

I persuaded myself that he
had somehow
hypnotized me.
I found myself staring
at the slight smile
on his face.

With this smile
of bitterness, I rather
give myself away.

The living human is cursed
hustled along
middle-aged, middle income
stomping along but alive.
Manufactured flesh and smile.

Her heart
was struggling to smile,
if only I had not loved
the wrong guy.

You have heart and nerves,
Why conceal them?
Pride lies with a sweet smile on her face;
Her life closed
to the end
in this abyss.
